Yoga, stretching or Pilates — which class is for you
Yoga, stretching and Pilates are often lumped together as “the calm classes”. They do share no jumping and no loud music, but their goals differ — and the choice matters if you want to see results.
Yoga
Classic yoga combines postures, breathing and focus. It improves flexibility and balance and is one of the best ways to shed the tension of the day. It suits any age and fitness level.
Fat Burning Yoga
A more dynamic version: postures flow into each other, the heart rate rises and the class burns more energy. For people who want the benefits of yoga and a proper sweat.
Stretching
Pure stretching — for joint mobility and muscle elasticity. Especially useful if you sit all day or lift weights and feel “tight”.
Power Stretching
Stretching with strength: positions are held longer, with stability exercises added. More demanding than ordinary stretching.
Body Sculpt Pilates
Pilates for a toned body: slow, controlled movements focused on the core, back and glutes. It improves posture and is a good foundation for any other training.
How to choose
- You want to relax and sleep better — yoga.
- You also want to burn calories — Fat Burning Yoga.
- You are stiff from sitting or from the gym — stretching or Power Stretching.
- You want a stronger core and better posture — Body Sculpt Pilates.
Many people combine them: Pilates or Functional Body once a week, and yoga or stretching once more.
Your first class
Arrive ten minutes early, tell the instructor it is your first time, and do not compare yourself with others. Comfortable clothes and water; mats are in the studio.
